INCLINE YOUR HEART TO FEAR GOD
The Lord heard you when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me, “I have heard what this people said to you. Everything they said was good. Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever! (Deuteronomy 5:28-29 NIV)
Paul expressed this very well when he said,
So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. (Romans 7:14-15 NLT)
Sin has paralyzed all our abilities. We can't even synchronized our "will" and "our "action". Our lives incline to be inconsistent. Even when our hearts know what is good, just like the Israelites - ".... Everything they said is good." But the way they lived often far from good: Ungrateful ~ easily take for granted God's kindness. Unfaithful ~ easily distracted and turning their focus to idols while God were all the time with them.
Isn't this reflect our lives?
God knows us through and through. The only way we can continue to walk on righteousness is when "our hearts incline to fear Him and observe all His commands." Meaning, we fully aware God is with us all the time. We will seek His guidance and purpose in our hearts to follow Him.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. (Proverbs 3:6-7 NLT)
