OBEDIENT TO CHRIST
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV
The two letters to the Corinthians present to us all kinds of human pretensions. The driving force behind all these quarrels, divisions, immoralities, false teachings, I believe is human ego where we think we know it all that we are better than others. And the worst was they (and we, too) have forgotten that the knowledge of God is supreme to all their knowledges including their doctrines, customs, and practices.
Paul reminded the people in Corinth...“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
The challenge: How can I take captive of my thoughts and make it obedient to Christ? What are some thoughts and practices that we still keep so dearly though they are not in line with the knowledge of God? How can I surrender them and be obedient to Christ?
As the matter of fact, rebellion perhaps is more natural to us than obedient. So, how can we be obedient? I believe we need Jesus Christ as our model! “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: ... And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!” Phil. 2:5, 8 NIV
I pray that as the Spirit of Christ dwells in us, may we be able to give room for His Spirit to help us submit to God, and let the knowledge of God be our guiding principle! May Christ who is within us increase and we decrease! ~plt120219
