THREE AWARENESSES

“Everything is permissible”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek their own good, but the good of others.” 1 Corinthians 10:23-24

This passage is about living together. In chapter 3. It’s about living together in the community of believers. But this part is widen the circle to include living together with people from other faith.

The principles remain the same: whatever we do, do it for God’s glory and to build up other people—to lead them closer to God, both Christians and non-Christians.

It’s not so much about sin or wrong-doing, or eating food sacrificed to idols in this case. But about being God’s people and leading others closer to God.

As we mature in faith, as we grow to be more like Christ, we need to have these three awarenesses. Three awarenesses involved: God-awareness, self-awareness and other-awareness!

Awareness of God help us to know God more deeply and intimately. Thus we may know what will (or will not) bring glory to Him! We need to be aware of our own and others’s belief, conviction, worldview as well as our blindsides and tendency to sin / fail.

The proof-tests will be: Does my action come out from my blindside to put others down? Or do I try to seek God’s greater glory in what I am doing, even as simple as eating and drinking? Do I aware of the others around me that my action may build them (Christian or non-Christian) up and lead them one step closer to God?

As we put our life in Christ’ hand, may the Spirit of God help us to grow these three awarenesses within us!~ plt060218

Cuma itu yang bisa saya lakukan, hanya kehadiran saja Saya jadi teringat: Musa meminta kepada Tuhan, " if your presence (kehadiran) does not go with us, do not send us from here " ( jika Engkau sendiri tidak membimbing kami, janganlah menyuruh kami pergi dari tempat ini" (Kel 33:15) Kesibukan hidup menjadikan " kehadiran" menjadi sesuatu yg sulit kita berikan kepada orang lain, keluarga ( suami, istri, anak-anak, cucu2, atau orang tua) dan bahkan kepada Allah. Ironis, sama seperti Musa kita merindukan kehadiran Allah (hadiratNya) - kehadiran Roh Nya.
The Theology of Giving PL THE The practice of unity in the early Church is most evident in the sharing of resources among the believers. The early Church existed to assist unfortunate people. Early believers cared for the poor both inside and outside the church. The Church was known as the organization of alms. Emperor Julian was impressed with the church’s charity work and imitated the Christian community by establishing many hostels in each city to help less fortunate town’s people and strangers. In the late first and early second century, almsgiving was regarded as equal to repentance from sin and considered better than fasting and prayer. In the church the rich and the poor lived together as one body. The rich supplied the poor with material needs, and the poor prayed for the rich. Regarding structure, the early Church was a house church, which implies “the church is the place for life” and is a house for human relationship (Pongudom 126-28). The principle of sharing resources refl...
