VENTURING INTO THE MYSTERY OF GLORY
“No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’ – the things God has prepared for those who love him – these are the things God has revealed to us by hisSpirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:7-10 NIV
“...a mystery God has destined for our glory before time began?” When sin has damaged our contact with God, Jesus came to renew God’s offer, “I have come to give you life...abundant life.” (John 10:10b) But many are still searching and looking... how to find this “mystery of glory”?
First, ethnocentrism—viewing and perceiving the wisdom of God solely by the values and standard of the world where one’s belong! Thus unable to see nor to appreciate the beauty of the things of God? Of all the values, perhaps the greatest obstacle is materialism. Many will perceive abundant life as having more... more money, more wealth, more luxury or even hedonistic lifestyle! They want the abundant life in their term, not God’s term! And “the mystery of the glory” in their understanding, not God’s!
Second, only the Spirit of God knows the thought of God (v11). Only the Spirit of God can show us and tell us things of God, the mystery of Glory which God has heartily prepared for us from the beginning! We need to have the Spirit to help us!
The Spirit won’t just install in us things of God like what we did to our gadgets!
Rather He invites us to journey with Him! And as we walk, the Spirit will show us and speak to us things of God! He will guide and lead us closer and deeper into the mystery of God!
Rather He invites us to journey with Him! And as we walk, the Spirit will show us and speak to us things of God! He will guide and lead us closer and deeper into the mystery of God!
I pray that you will embark on this journey with the Spirit of God, venturing into the deep things of God! Bon voyage! ~plt110118
