WHEN THE MATTER IS TOO BIG
Psalm 131

“LORD, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty.

I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp. Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

O Israel, put your hope in the LORD — now and always.” Psalms 131:1-3 NLT

Have you come across challenges and obstacles which are beyond your resources and comprehension?

As a child, when facing such a task or trial, (a bully, difficult homework, etc) you may immediately look up to your mom or dad, or some adult you think they may be able to help.

As an adult, what do you do when the matters are too big for you to handle! Some may said "I love challenge! Nothing can stop me!" You will try to prove yourself!" That's perhaps the haughty spirit in us is talking.

Some may be overwhelmed and paralyzed by the matters (among the complicated life issues perhaps the most draining for us will be relationship then financial problems).

We often trapped in these two extremes: trying to prove ourselves with all our might or suck by worries and fears without having abilities to overcome.

This psalm is an expression of hope and trust! We can trust God for big and small matters! Especially when the matter is too big for us, beyond our resources! So instead of worry or trying to prove that 'you can', "turn to God, look up to Him! Tell Jesus, my hearts is not proud, my eyes are not raised too high (haughty). I put my trust in you. I can't but you can! I need you. I will put my hope in you! And I won't concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp. Instead, I will calm and quiet myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk."

Friends, put your hope in the Lord (not in your might nor your worry), now and always! ~plt18Nov16

Have a blessed weekend!

Kehendakku vs KehendakMu "Ya Bapa-Ku, jikalau Engkau mau, ambillah cawan ini dari pada-Ku; tetapi bukanlah kehendak-Ku, melainkan kehendak-Mulah yang terjadi." BIBLE, THE WAY TO HEAVEN (2 Timothy 3:10-17—Preacher: Ps Paw Liang) I want to know one thing: the way to heaven. God himself has condescended to teach me the way. He has written it down in a book. Oh, give me that book! At any price give me that book of God. Let me be homo unius libri – a man of one book . (John Wesley’s Prayer) What does the Bible mean to you? False teachings was one of the issues faced by the early church. Paul reminds us, the Bible is the way to heaven, the way of God, the way of life. We need to be rooted in the Bible firmly. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The Bible should be the foundation of our life and ministry. in discerning the teachings in our time and in setting direction for our church. The Methodist Quadrilateral do not have equal weigh. Rather, Tradition, Reason, and Experience should...
THE TRUE JOY "The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:17, 20‬ ‭NIV‬‬ What's the source of your joy? The 72 disciples proudly report to Jesus all they had done and achieved. Jesus reminded them that their joy comes from their relationship with Him not their achievements for him! How is your relationship with God? Come as you are not as what you've achieved. You matter more to God than all your achievements, vice versa God should matter most to you than what He has done for you! Happy Thursday! May the joy of the Lord remain in you always! ~plt130717 # pltwrites   # whatmattermost   # thejoyoftheLord   # Luke10
