A HEART TOUCHED BY THE SPIRIT

“No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by the Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.”
Romans 2:29 NLT

Born in a family of believers and having much knowledge of the Bible may put you in an advantage position to know God than many who do not have these.

But without a heart touched by the Spirit, these two may indeed keep you in a pseudo-belief. You think (and believe) that you believe in God. Yet true believe is the matter of the heart, not our biological heritage nor our knowledge nor what we do for the church (make sure your service is to please God and not merely to make your church look good).

Have your heart been touched by the Spirit?

The sign is: your heart will always seek to please God and praise from Him alone, not people!

BIBLE, THE WAY TO HEAVEN (2 Timothy 3:10-17—Preacher: Ps Paw Liang) I want to know one thing: the way to heaven. God himself has condescended to teach me the way. He has written it down in a book. Oh, give me that book! At any price give me that book of God. Let me be homo unius libri – a man of one book . (John Wesley’s Prayer) What does the Bible mean to you? False teachings was one of the issues faced by the early church. Paul reminds us, the Bible is the way to heaven, the way of God, the way of life. We need to be rooted in the Bible firmly. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The Bible should be the foundation of our life and ministry. in discerning the teachings in our time and in setting direction for our church. The Methodist Quadrilateral do not have equal weigh. Rather, Tradition, Reason, and Experience should...

Rethinking Worship

Rethinking Worship ~ Psalm 145 By Paw Liang The What is worship? Some people will relate worship with sermons. In some places, people will come to church mainly for Holy Communion. Some churches believe that worship is a time to win more souls for Christ so there must be an altar call in every worship service. For many young people today, worship is similar to music and praises that will create a certain atmosphere or emotion to make the worshippers feel good and lead them into God’s presence. Those who are focused on ‘seekers’ will try to add more entertainment and make the worship services look fun and enjoyable. What is worship? What does worship mean to you? First and foremost, the act of worship is not the most important. We can do anything in worship, but worship is ultimately about God. It takes place when our spirits feel at home in God’s presence. As such, we can draw out some characteristics of true worship: Worship is determined by our relationship w...
