TOUGH GRACE FOR TOUGH LIFE!
Psalm 35
"Malicious witnesses testify against me. They accuse me of crimes I know nothing about. They repay me evil for good. I am sick with despair. May those who rejoice at my troubles be humiliated and disgraced. May those who triumph over me be covered with shame and dishonor.”
Psalms 35:11-12, 26 NLT
It's tough to be good! (May be good to read the whole chapter 35: A fierce-honesty in David that we seldom see in a good Christian.)
How much we hope those who have hurt us to be punished. We may even shy cursing on pur hearts those who spread rumours and caused troubles, making life tough for us.
King David, The Psalmist, just like anyone of us. It's easier to be good to those who are good to us. Challenge come when people are just "numb" -- unable to appreciate the goodness in us or take advantage of our kindness. Making us like a fool. Or they even pay us with evil while we sincerely love, pray and do good to them (vv 14-17).
Surely this must be a kind of attack that even a giant of faith, a friend of God can't take it anymore esp when people begin to doubt whether the God, our Lord is there for us. If so, why God let evil triumph and laugh at us?
In facing such a situation Jesus wants us to repay evil with good and to pray for those who make life tough for us. (Luke 6:28). He is asking us to exercise the impossible grace that only the impossible God can give. So, ask Him to supply you with this tough grace to cope with this tough life!
This may require us to trust and obey Him--Jesus, our God, will work out the impossible in us and through us! Trust comes before understanding!
Hang tough!
Have a blessed weekend!
