SPEAK, LORD, YOUR SERVANT IS LISTENING!

“When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:37-38 NIV

How many times have you read your Bible? How many sermons have you heard? Have any of these have ever cut to the heart and you know you need to do something; "Brothers, what shall we do?"

As a preacher, I pray that I can preach with the power of the Spirit that those who listen can't resist His truth.

As a listener, I pray that God will give me a willing and attentive heart so that when His Spirit works in me I can't resist but respond, what shall I do now? 

God has mercy! 
Very often we fail as your preachers! Instead of letting your Word works through us we may have employed more our own words and thoughts.

God has mercy! 
Very often we fail as your people. You call us, "Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David." (Isa 55:3-4)

BUT, We have ears but we do not hear, we have eyes but we do not see! We only want to hear what we want to hear. We only want to see what we want to see! 

Have mercy on us and grant us the faith of Samuel, "Speak LORD, your servant is listening."

Have mercy, Lord! May your word achieves the purpose as You will not my (our) will.

As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Since they did not marry people from other ethnic groups, they have produced unhealthy offspring. Thankfully the High Priest has amended their law and allowed them to marry men or women from other ethnic groups. Likewise, the church might have unknowingly focus too much on the internal affairs (become incestuous) and forgot Jesus’s commission: Go, and make disciples of all nations.
